Roberto Del Vecchio gained recognition and fame through his involvement in Gothica. This project released 2 albums on the famous Cold Meat Industry. When this project split in 2004 R. Del Vecchio set up The Last Hour. Now here comes his official debut opus, which took a few years to be achieved.

The style of The Last Hour is quite different from Gothica, but for sure has some similarities as well. The sound mixes ambient parts and other new wave and ethereal influences with each other. I guess that the term ambient-wave music is appropriate. A few ethereal elements emerge to the surface and I'm here referring to the heavenly voices featured on the song 'Chanson d'Automne'. This is for sure one of my favourites from the album.
The ambient part of 'The Last Hour' dominates on the tormenting 'It Is The Hour'. This track comes closer to the Cold Meat Industry style while injects some diversity in this album. The spooky vocals reinforce the horror feeling of the atmosphere.
A few more ambient cuts remain instrumentals and are definitely closer to pure soundtrack music. I'm here referring to 'In Search Of The Infinite' and 'The Cold Embrace Of The Universe'.

This album reveals different facets from R. Del Vecchio, but creates a rather homogenous entity. This is for a promising reconversion for this Italian musician.
